The Crown Prosecution Service file on the decision not to prosecute Peter Hayman destroyed in 2006 according to a response to a Freedom of Information Question.
The CPS were asked to release the papers involved in the decision not to prosecute Sir Peter Hayman, as stated in this quote,
The Attorney-General, Michael Havers replied, “I am in agreement with the Director of Public Prosecutions’ (Sir Thomas Chalmers Hetherington QC) advice not to prosecute Sir Peter Hayman and the other persons with whom he had carried on an obscene correspondence.”
Their reply stated “Our records show that the file you are requesting was destroyed on 17 February 2006”
