Child Sexual Abuse In Jamaica

Jamaica

Jamaica has had a problem with child sexual abuse for a long time, but it is now gradually coming out in the open.

Unfortunately even when Police take action, parents of abused children refuse to assist the Police.  “The explanation he [one father]  gave was that he was not going to help us because all he know it was just a simple little touch,” Superintendent Oberlin Smith-Whyte told Loop News. [5]

A music teacher Traig Taylor has recently been convicted on a charge of carnal abuse and sentenced to four years. He was founder and leader of the popular gospel group Traig Taylor & Kazak Ministry, producer of the childrens choir as well as a music teacher at a preparatory school. He was reported to the Centre for Investigation and Child Abuse (CISOCA) [7]

Hopefully this will encourage other victims and survivors to come forward.

Julie Marie Mansfield @givemedignity has been a longstanding campaigner against child sexual abuse and there is much of her work on the internet eg Julie Marie Mansfield Helps Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse Reclaim Their Power  [8] as well as her book Maybe God was Busy [9]

We do need to build an international network to defeat the organised child sexual abuse.
