Lambeth Compensation for ex residents of Lambeth Childrens Homes and Foster Children

Shirley Oaks Childrens Home

The Lambeth Redress scheme ends at the end of this year. The deadline for applications is 5pm on 1 January 2022. Once the scheme ends that will be it.

The Lambeth Redress Scheme pays compensation to people who were abused or lived in fear of being abused whilst in Lambeth’s care as children. The scheme is for those who lived in or visited a Lambeth children’s home (including those at Shirley Oaks) or attended Shirley Oaks Primary School or foster care. Lambeth Redress Scheme [1]

It covers anyone in Lambeth children home, before or after 1965 or in Lambeth foster care.

Those in children homes are entitled to a Harms Way Payment and individual redress for abuse suffered.

Lambeth Council has to date paid out 46 million to survivors. More than 1,600 people have applied, many are still going through the process.

I am sure that there are many who are entitled who have not yet claimed.

This just leaves the following reports to be asked for that Lambeth say they have possession of.

• Notes of Management Inquiry into allegations concerning XX (1985)
• Detailed background into the setting up the formal enquiry into allegations by XX that XX was sexually abused (1986)

It also still leaves all the Inspection Reports and other reports mentioned in released reports that need to be asked for. However due to my limited time on the net these days, I have not sorted out the titles and dates of them yet but it is better that this post is published sooner rather than later.
