Mike Tarraga – A Brave Soul and Generous Survivor

All I know about Mike Tarraga is that he is a survivor of horrific abuse and he was determined to tell his story, before he died.

With the help of Anna Brees an ex BBC journalist he did. She helped him write a book. All the profits from the book go to helping other survivors complete Anna’s media course which teaches survivors how to use a mobile phone to tell their story. He has also used Anna’s course to get him his story out, see video below.

I know Mike has been gravely ill, has somewhat recovered, but I think in his own view has not long to go. Mike has kindly given me the links to three videos, only the first I have had time to watch.

It is essential for the truth to be told – I believe more important than justice, whatever that may mean. I have been told many a time that it lifts a burden from the survivor, and whatever else may happen that legacy, the truth, will live on.

That truth helps to stop other children being abused like they were – the most common reason by far that I hear why survivors want to tell their story and want the truth to be told.The truth can be told independent of the police, authorities, judges, social services or anyone else. You can self publish.

As a baby Michael Tarraga never left the hospital in the arms of his mother. She left him there the day he was born, with his twin brother. She also abandoned their two year old sister. This is a story of what happened next and how a child without a family can be exploited, abused and sold. Michael was continually anally raped for half a crown, sold out by Bob and Ivy Woods who he had to call Mum and Dad. Michael is now 70 years old and dying from COPD. Keen for his story to be told before he leaves this world – so that he and others can one day get peace and justice, but more importantly that this kind of horrific sexual abuse, happens to no other child. “I don’t want money, I want my story to be told. Michael died about a year after this blog post. It looks as though Michael fell out with Anna Brees and John Wedger before he died.

Mike also wrote A Hard Road to Travel before he died.
