UT1 – Utah Ritual Abuse

There is a case in Utah that is worthy of attention. It involves allegations of ritual sexual abuse, the Mormon Church and its taking me some time to get my head round the information to summarise it.

However time is of the essence as the link to many relevant documents which have been released under FOI has been set to expire tomorrow, so to give people a chance to download them I have had to get this out quickly.

The Sheriff of Utah County Mike Smith went public recently with information that they were investigating ritual abuse, which dated between 1990-2010. Some of the abuse had been investigated before but it was decided not to prosecute. They wanted to hear from any other victims involved.

Then astoundingly, within a day the Utah County Attorney, Mike Leavitt, held a press conference outing himself and his wife as being named in a witness statement in the case [6] He claimed that it was a political attack on him. Leavitt is up for reelection soon. He also said that there should be a review of the case [by who?] and called on the Sheriff to resign.

Leavitt said that a witness statement tied to a 2012 abuse investigation contained disturbing allegations against him and his wife. “I learned that my wife and I were part of those allegations, alleging that we were guilty of cannibalizing young children and murdering young children.”

Leavitt provided copies of a 151-page document labeled as a “victim statement” [Witness Statement 3 I think] that describes the alleged crimes in detail. The statement names Leavitt and more than a dozen others as part of a group that practiced ritual sexual abuse of children. Leavitt called the report “151 pages of utter baloney” and described the woman who reported the allegations to authorities as “tragically mentally ill.” [6]

Apparently the case also relates to what Fox 13 have been investigating for a few months…

Fox 13 it appears have interviews and evidence from survivor Brett Bluth who appears to claim that a Church of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) abused him under hypnosis. The therapist also appears to be have been previously accused of sex crimes against a girl and on a tape recording appears to admit the rape. [10]

Leavitt mentions a man previously charged whose case was dismissed was his neighbor for a time and someone he knew from church. Leavitt said he testified against the man at a divorce proceeding because he believed the man to be a danger to his children [6]. I am not sure yet if this is the therapist or someone different.

The “mentally ill” slur is a common one used against survivors of ritual abuse to diminish the allegations by attacking the whistleblower. It also helps to silence other survivors.

Sheriff Smith took aim at that characterization. “These are victims of crime who have mustered the courage to come forward, and this is what we call them is mentally ill?” Smith said victims of alleged crimes should not be shamed or intimidated for having the courage to come forward.

The sheriff’s office investigation began in April 2021, and their digging led them to similar crimes that investigators believe took place between 1990 and 2010 in Utah, Sanpete and Juab counties.

It was this slur that prompted Jenny Hatch, who appears to be a survivor of abuse but not AFAIK connected with this case, to release documents she had applied for under Freedom of Information requests about documents connected to this case.

As survivors will know the authorities and powers that be have tried very hard over the years to deny that ritual abuse occurs, despite the evidence from Presidio, Boystown and many others.

There will be strong attempts to silence the survivors, the Sheriff of Utah County Mike Smith, his team and Special Victims Unit by relentless attacks, threats, blackmail and more. This will apply to Juab and Sanpete counties, along with the Nephi and Provo police departments.

Leavitt has previously attempted to dismantle the Special Victims Unit in the county attorney’s office. Leavitt is the younger brother of former 3-time Utah Governor Michael Okerlund Leavitt. The father of the two men is Dixie Leavitt, the founder of the Leavitt Group, one of the largest independent insurance brokers in the nation. [6]

An FBI spokeswoman confirmed the agency is assisting in the effort. [6] That the FBI are involved is not necessarily a good thing, as the FBI along with the CIA appears to cover up child trafficking and abuse, much of which they are the instigators of. eg Finders [12]

This is a brief overview as I understand it. Please correct anything that I have got wrong or misunderstood. I have not yet read the witness statements or many videos.

Not sure yet what Nicholas Rossi, aka Arthur Knight who is in Scotland under extradition proceedings for rape has to do with this case or if it is a Leavitt distraction.

Timeline

1990 – 2010 “similar forms of ritualistic sexual abuse and trafficking” that occurred in Utah County, Juab County, and Sanpete County during the time between 1990 and 2010. [2]

2012 Case of Therapist?

2021 Apr This phase of ritual sexual abuse investigation began. Sheriff’s Office said an investigation “into ritualistic child sexual abuse and child sex trafficking” in Utah County began in April 2021.[2] Found“similar forms of ritualistic sexual abuse and trafficking” that occurred in Utah County, Juab County, and Sanpete County during the time between 1990 and 2010.

2022 May 31 Announcement of this investigation by Utah County Sheriff Mike Smith. The Sheriff’s Office, working with Special Victims Unit Detectives, released a statement detailing how “multiple county and federal agencies are investigating reports of ritualistic child sexual abuse from as far back as 1990”. 2022 Jun 1 David Leavitt, Utah County Attorney held a press conference where he shared a 151-page document titled “victim statement” related to a 2012 case involving allegations of sexual abuse of children. Leavitt and several other people are named in the statement as being involved with a group practicing ritual child sex abuse. He claimed the Sheriff’s investigation was a political attack on him related to the June 28th primary elections in Utah. [6]
